The x64.msi version is the installer for the 64-bit version of Windows, while the x86.msi version is the installer for the default 32-bit version of Windows. From your previous posts, I think you have the standard version, so you wouldn't need the 64-bit version.

There are four files available for download at this page: msxml6.msi, msxml6_ia64.msi, msxml6_SDK.msi, and msxml6_x64.msi. Only one of these is an SDK, so there is no choice of platform when installing the SDK. This makes me think Holger is right. Probably somebody at Microsoft was over zealous when adding the processor checks to these files - the SDK probably shouldn't have one at all. This seems like a big problem.
