So my Olevia model 237-T11 tv stopped working the other day. Now mind you, I tried everything from unplugging, waiting 30 minutes, replugging it into the outlet, using different power outlets, etc. Also keep in mind that I have no knowledge in this field, but I'd like to at least crack it open before I'm going to throw it away (Not willing to spend $200-$300 on repairs either). HDMI issues with Olevia 232V SoccerHooligan. Joined May 2007. My girlfriend and I just bought a 360 and we were getting the 'invalid format' message, but the firmware update did the trick! Picked up this TV some one was throwing away. Plugged it in, pressed the power button and found out why it was being discarded. It would not turn on.

No picture, nothing at all, DOA. I knew that a possible problem could be bad capacitors. I opened the TV up and checked the capacitors. Bulged and leaking capacitors were found on the power supply board. Those capacitors could be bad. Bought new capacitors.

Removed the possible bad capacitors and installed the new ones. TV now works.

Cost $18.70 for the capacitors. I always work on electronics unplugged.

Don't want to die. Correction: ATSC is the new standard I know nothing about electronics except what I see on the internet. This video performed by an amateur.

First, the screen is black can be due to the 24vdc power supply is dead or in shutdown due to short circuits in the backlight inverter board. You need to inpsect the caps and voltages. Screen: not likely beacuse of the backlight inverter board and the T-CON board will not be the same.
