You can save a.hwp file as a.doc file - just choose save as and then choose the bottom drop down box (under the fle name) - the.doc file is the bottom option I think. It also has a.rtf option if you find that keeps the formatting better. I have never tried converting a.doc file to a.hwp file but I am fairly sure that the Korean software will open the.doc files - it used to happen automatically on the school computer until I stopped it.
